Welcome to Her Positive Legacy, the podcast that celebrates resilience, reinvention, and uncovering joy in life's everyday moments. I'm Angie Lasowski, mother of seven, entrepreneur, and someone who has walked the path of starting over after experiencing grief, loss, and challenges. This podcast is a space where I share the lessons I've learned, the stories that inspire me, and the light I've discovered along the way. Together, let's create a positive legacy, one story, one step, and one day at a time. Hey there, friends, and welcome back to Her Positive Legacy. I'm Angie Lasowski, and I'm so grateful you're here with me today. This episode is one I felt deeply called to record, because if you're like me, and like so many of us, there are days where we question the path we're on. Days we wonder... Have I already lived the best parts of my life? Let me say this clearly for both of us. Our best days are still ahead. We may carry scars, stories, and setbacks, but those things don't diminish our future. They shape it. And if we lean into the lessons, not just the pain, we can write a chapter even more beautiful than the ones we've already lived. The author C.S. Lewis once said, There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind. And I believe that with my whole heart. Now let's get honest for a moment about what it means to stay positive. It's become such a buzzword that we sometimes lose its depth. Staying positive doesn't mean we have to plaster on a smile and pretend everything is okay when it's not. No, real positivity is resilient. It's the quiet strength that says... Even in the hard moments, I trust better ones are coming. As Holocaust survivor and psychiatrist Viktor Frankl wrote in Man's Search for Meaning, When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves. Positivity is about hope and choice, even when circumstances feel out of our hands. there's a shadow side to challenging times that i want to talk about today emotions like judgment cynicism and resentment they're seductive aren't they they make us feel righteous we think if i'm angry it means i care if i point out what's wrong i must be doing something right but here's what i've learned and it's humbling judgment gives the illusion of morality but rarely leads to transformation. Psychologist Brene Brown put it this way, judgment belongs to those who are willing to get in the arena. It's easy to stand on the sidelines and throw stones. It's much harder to look in the mirror. And that's the work. We're not here to build the walls of superiority. We're here to build bridges of understanding. When someone hurts us or behaves poorly, our instinct might be to match that energy with criticism or distance. But real change, lasting, soul-deep change, happens when we lead with curiosity, not contempt. So ask, what pain is behind that behavior? What might they be carrying that I can't see? And what in me is being triggered and why? This isn't about excusing harmful behavior. It's about refusing to let it become our model. But here's the truth, friends. If we want to live in a world where fear and anger don't rule us, we have to stop feeding them. We have to pause, reflect, choose. And that choice begins with us every single day. Even in traffic, even in conflict, even when someone doesn't see our heart. Maya Angelou said, Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better. Let's be the ones who choose better, who respond with love instead of reactivity, who turn pain into purpose. So, as we close this episode, I want to offer a small challenge. Take just one moment today to catch yourself before a reaction, whether it's judgment, a sharp word, or an internal criticism. Pause, breathe, choose differently. That is how we create a legacy. Not by being perfect, but by being aware. Our best days aren't defined by our circumstances. They're defined by our capacity to grow, to love, and to rise again. So don't look back in regret. Look back with wisdom. Look forward with faith and walk into each new day knowing it's not over, not even close. Thank you so much for joining me on this episode of Her Positive Legacy. I hope today's conversation left you feeling inspired and reminded that no matter what challenges you're facing, it's never too late to start over or create a life you're proud of.
